The Treatment process: 6 conditions that are necessary for the therapeutic process:
1. An existing relationship
2. Client tends to be vulnerable/anxious
3. Therapist is genuine and authentic
4. Therapist has unconditional positive regard for client
5. Therapist attempts to be empathetic towards client
6. The client must be able to perceive the therapist's unconditional positive regard and empathetic understanding
The main goal of person-centered therapy is to help facilitate a client's trust and help them be honest with themselves and the therapist. When that happens, clients can fully express emotions no matter if they are good or bad. This helps promote self awareness and lets the client build an internal locus of control
